TRON Prepares GreatVoyage-v4.8.2 Network Upgrade for TVM Compatibility and Security

TRON is preparing to move its GreatVoyage-v4.8.2 upgrade toward mainnet voting, with the release designed to improve TVM compatibility, security and execution consistency across the network, according to the project’s official java-tron release notes for GreatVoyage-v4.8.2.
The upgrade is tied to governance proposals for network parameters #95 and #96, which TRON DAO said are scheduled for August 25. The project said the proposal has already passed on Nile testnet, where the new features are available for developer testing.
Node operators face an upgrade deadline before the vote
TRON DAO said node operators need to upgrade to version v4.8.2 or v4.8.2.1 before August 25 to stay in sync with the network. The project also said the update window is important for maintaining block synchronization once the governance vote is triggered.
The GreatVoyage-v4.8.2 release, also referred to as Pyrrho, is positioned around compatibility and security improvements rather than a user-facing product launch. The announcement links the upgrade to Prague and Osaka features, which are set to be enabled if the mainnet proposals pass.
TRON’s public messaging framed the release as part of a broader effort to bring more consistent execution across the network. The project did not indicate any immediate change for users beyond the scheduled governance process and the software requirement for operators.
