U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs drew $999 million on Sept. 21 as Ether funds added $270 million

U.S. spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds recorded $999 million in net inflows on Sept. 21, according to Farside Investors’ ETF flows dashboard, marking the biggest daily total of the year referenced in the headline. Spot Ether ETFs added another $270 million the same day, bringing the combined inflow across the two categories to more than $1.2 billion.

The figures came as Bitcoin climbed above $86,000 and the Crypto Fear & Greed Index reached 78, a reading in Extreme Greed territory. The flow data and the market move happened alongside each other, but the available data does not show a direct cause-and-effect link between the ETF inflows and the price advance.

IBIT and ETHA were part of the largest shares of the day

Recent reporting on the same session said BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust led the Bitcoin ETF category with roughly $381 million in inflows, while BlackRock’s Ether product also drew a notable share of the day’s Ether demand. Other funds in both categories added to the total, and the session did not appear to include net outflows across the main U.S. spot Bitcoin products.

That pattern points to broad demand for ETF exposure rather than a single-fund move. Still, the flow data alone only shows where capital went on the day; it does not explain whether the buying was driven by price momentum, portfolio rebalancing, or broader demand for crypto exposure.

The result left Sept. 21 as a strong session for both Bitcoin and Ether investment products at a time when sentiment had already turned notably more enthusiastic. For readers tracking the market, the main takeaway is the scale of the inflows: nearly $1 billion into Bitcoin ETFs and $270 million into Ether ETFs in a single day.
