Solflare Says Staking Rewards Are Paused After Validator Key Security Incident

Solflare said staking rewards for its affected validator have been paused after a security incident at a staking provider compromised validator keys. In a post on X, the wallet provider said users’ SOL remains safe in their own stake accounts and that no user funds were touched.

The company said the issue hit the validator’s keys rather than users’ individual stake accounts, meaning delegated SOL was not moved. Solflare also said it is preparing to migrate stake to a new validator through an upcoming app update.

Solflare’s statement on X said a compensation plan is in progress, but did not give a timetable for when the pause will end. The post framed the incident as an issue with the staking provider’s security rather than with user-controlled funds.

How the validator issue affects users

According to the company, the affected validator is no longer producing rewards while the team works through the transition. Solflare said users will be guided through the migration in an app update, rather than needing to act immediately.

Co-founder Vidor, in a separate post, said the validator operator lost control of the keys and stressed that Solana’s design protects delegated stake. He said the incident did not result in user funds being lost.

For now, the practical impact is limited to staking rewards on the affected validator. Solflare has not disclosed further technical details about the security incident itself, and the compensation plan remains pending.
