Cardano Leios upgrade reaches about 1,000 TPS in test environment

Cardano’s Ouroboros Leios upgrade has reached roughly 1,000 transactions per second in a test environment, according to Input Output Research’s mid-year Technology Validation report. The report says the result came from simulations run on a 1,000-node test network under realistic conditions.

The figure is a notable step for Cardano’s scaling roadmap, but it was achieved in testing rather than on the mainnet. That means the result shows how the design performed in a controlled environment, not what users are currently seeing on the live network.

Ouroboros Leios is part of Cardano’s broader effort to increase network capacity. In the report, the test result is presented as evidence that the upgrade can materially raise throughput when modeled under the stated conditions. The material does not say the upgrade is live on mainnet.
