Franklin Templeton and HashKey Expand Tokenized Money Market Access in Asia

Franklin Templeton has partnered with HashKey Exchange to distribute its tokenized U.S. government money market fund, the Franklin OnChain U.S. Government Liquidity Fund, in Asia. HashKey said the product, known as grBENJI, has been added to its Earn channel for digital asset investors on its licensed trading platform.
The arrangement gives Franklin Templeton a new distribution route for one of its tokenized investment products while adding a regulated money market offering to HashKey’s digital asset platform. According to the announcement distributed through PR Newswire, the collaboration is aimed at digital asset investors in Asia and is positioned around compliant access to a tokenized fund backed by U.S. government money market instruments and U.S. dollar cash assets.
Access is limited to eligible investors in Hong Kong
HashKey said access in Hong Kong is restricted to professional investors, and the product is not available to the general public there. That makes the rollout a controlled distribution move rather than a broad retail launch, with the fund offered through a licensed platform rather than a general crypto listing.
The company described the addition as part of its Earn ecosystem, which is built around investment products offered through its regulated infrastructure. Franklin Templeton, for its part, said the listing extends the reach of its tokenized fund solutions into regulated digital asset markets across Asia.
Both firms point to more tokenized products ahead
The partnership is not framed as a one-off distribution deal. Franklin Templeton said it expects to deepen the relationship over time and expand beyond tokenized money market funds into other tokenized products. HashKey also indicated that the collaboration could support broader rollout plans across markets where it operates, including Hong Kong, Singapore, Tokyo, Dubai and Bermuda.
For now, the central development is narrower: a tokenized U.S. government money market fund has been placed onto a regulated Asian digital asset platform for eligible investors. The move adds another example of traditional asset managers using blockchain-based wrappers to reach crypto-linked distribution channels without changing the underlying fund profile described in the announcement.
