NEAR Intents Says Security Incident Tied to Omni Bug Led to About $3.8M Loss

NEAR Intents said it halted services after a security incident tied to a bug in the interaction between its Omni deposit and withdrawal infrastructure and the NEAR Intents smart contract, with the preliminary loss estimated at about $3.8 million. In a post on the project’s official X account, the team said the contract-side vulnerability has been patched and that the lost funds will be compensated in full.
Earlier today NEAR Intents services were stopped after a security incident was detected. The incident was caused by a bug in the Omni deposit and withdrawal infrastructure interaction with NEAR Intents smart contract.

The team said operations are expected to resume soon, while deposits and withdrawals on 11 networks will remain paused for roughly 12 more hours as the Omni infrastructure fixes are completed. The affected networks listed by NEAR Intents are BSC, Polygon, TON, Optimism, Avalanche, Stellar, Monad, LayerX, Adi, Scroll and Plasma.
NEAR Intents also said the incident has been reported to law enforcement and that it is working with security partners to trace the funds. The post did not provide a full technical breakdown of how the bug was triggered, but it framed the issue as an infrastructure interaction problem rather than a broad failure of the service itself.
The incident adds another security setback for a cross-chain workflow that depends on multiple deposit and withdrawal pathways staying aligned. For users, the immediate impact is the temporary pause on transfers across the affected networks, while the team’s compensation promise suggests the main next step is repair and recovery rather than a prolonged shutdown.
