TON Expands Telegram Wallet: Self-Custodial Options and Enhanced Web3 Access

TON Expands Telegram Wallet: Self-Custodial Options and Enhanced Web3 Access

TL;DR

  • Telegram’s TON Wallet will integrate self-custody and custody options into a single interface.
  • New updates will include dApps, staking aggregators, and decentralized services.
  • The Foundation has partnered with HashKey to facilitate fiat-to-crypto conversions in Asia Pacific.

TON ecosystem, Telegram‘s blockchain network, has announced major updates to its cryptocurrency wallet during The Gateway event in Dubai.

Andrew Rogozov, CEO of The Open Platform, highlighted that the goal is to improve the user experience and promote accessibility  through a series of key innovations.

One of the most important new features is the integration of self-custody and custody options in a single interface, which will allow users to choose between storing their assets in the wallet itself  or managing them independently with TON Space.

Currently, TON already has more than 100 million users within Telegram, who have joined TON Space, the self-custodial section of the ecosystem.

With the expansion of this feature, TON Space will leave its beta phase and become a definitive option within the Telegram wallet, which will facilitate access to network services  and  encourage mass adoption of this technology among the 950 million Telegram users.

Additionally, this update will include various decentralized applications (dApps), decentralized exchange services (DEX), staking aggregators, and tools for managing NFTs and conducting Jettons (TON network tokens) giveaways.

These additions will provide competitive transaction fees and a wide range of financial and entertainment services, consolidating TON‘s proposition as a complete alternative within the Web3 realm.

The impact of TON Space on the accessibility and adoption of Web3 services

TON’s ambitious plan goes beyond simple storage functionality.

Rogozov stated that TON Space is positioning itself as a truly autonomous ecosystem that will allow users to seamlessly navigate between different decentralized services.

The Foundation‘s vision is to make TON Space an access point to the entire ecosystem, thus bringing Web3 closer to millions of people on Telegram.

To further strengthen access to this ecosystem, it has established a partnership with HashKey, one of the leading providers of financial solutions, in order to improve the on-and off-ramps between fiat and cryptocurrencies in the Asia-Pacific region.

This agreement will allow TON users in this region to buy and sell crypto assets directly in their wallets, which is a significant advantage for those looking for greater integration of the blockchain into their daily transactions.

With the goal of expanding access to decentralized services, the protocol continues to focus on a model that integrates the needs of security and simplicity for its users.

By enabling self-custody within the same interface that offers managed custody, the TON network accommodates the diverse preferences of its community.

Telegram, as a communication platform with a global and growing user base, is uniquely positioned to lead the adoption of Web3 technologies through these innovations in the TON Wallet.

The platform aims to establish itself as the bridge between Telegram users and the Web3 ecosystem, providing a more accessible and economical alternative for managing digital assets and using decentralized applications.

With these updates, the TON team seeks to take full advantage of the potential of its blockchain network and the advantages of its integration with Telegram to offer a more complete and personalized experience to each user.
