TRON sets August 25 governance vote for next TVM upgrade

TRON DAO said the network is preparing for its next TVM upgrade, with on-chain governance votes scheduled for August 25. The update is described as bringing new capabilities aimed at improving compatibility, security and developer functionality across the network.

A separate report from Crypto Briefing said the vote is tied to the activation of TVM parameters 95 and 96. The outlet also said node operators were given an August 16 deadline to update to GreatVoyage-v4.8.2, also known as Pyrrho, before the governance process moves forward.

According to that report, the planned TVM changes include a CLZ opcode and support for secp256r1, also known as P-256, signature verification. Both features are commonly associated with broader compatibility goals, but the announcement itself frames the upgrade in terms of network functionality rather than usage or market impact.

TRON’s governance model uses Super Representatives to vote on network parameter changes, so the August 25 date marks the point at which the proposal would move through that process. The announcement did not indicate any further outcome beyond the scheduled vote.
