Uniswap leads recent DEX volume as DeFi trackers show a wide gap

Uniswap is currently the top decentralized exchange by recent trading volume, according to its ranking on DefiLlama’s DEX leaderboard. The tracker places Uniswap ahead of other major venues in its recent volume tables, making it the largest DEX by the metric shown on the dashboard.
The ranking matters because DEX volume is one of the clearest live measures of activity on decentralized trading venues, though it does not by itself prove durable usage or long-term demand. It reflects trading that has already taken place, not necessarily whether that flow will persist.
What the volume ranking shows
Recent commentary around the leaderboard has pointed to Uniswap’s lead over other DEXs such as PancakeSwap, Aerodrome, Curve, Orca and Raydium, with Uniswap also described as holding a large share of volume across the tracked AMM set. The same discussion said the comparison was based on recent spot-volume data and highlighted that Uniswap’s lead came despite a year-over-year decline in its own volume.
That framing suggests the advantage was driven more by relative resilience than by a broad expansion across the DEX market. In the same set of observations, total volume across the largest names was described as contracting, while Uniswap retained the top position.
Volume leadership does not mean the same thing as growth
One of the more important distinctions in the data is that leadership in DEX volume can come from market share gains even when absolute activity is flat or lower than before. The commentary linked to the leaderboard said Uniswap’s monthly volume bottomed in May and recovered in June, but it also said the headline figure only covered Uniswap v2 and v3, excluding v4 and hook volume.
That means the ranking is useful as a snapshot of current activity, but it is not a complete picture of everything flowing through the Uniswap stack. Readers should treat it as a tracker-based view of recent trading, not as proof of a broader structural shift on its own.
Even so, Uniswap’s position at the top of the recent DEX tables underscores how concentrated decentralized trading activity remains among a small group of venues. The broader takeaway from the available data is straightforward: Uniswap is still the main reference point for DEX volume, even as the rest of the market moves around it.
