$746M Pulled from US Spot Bitcoin and Ether ETFs in Sharp Reversal

US spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds recorded $635 million in net outflows on Oct. 22, flipping from roughly $525 million in inflows the previous day, according to coverage citing fund flow data. Spot ether ETFs also moved lower, posting about $111 million in net redemptions on the same day.

The reversal marked a sharp change in flow direction after the prior session’s strong demand for Bitcoin-linked funds. The reported figures indicate that the pullback was not limited to a single product, with ether funds also seeing a negative day alongside Bitcoin ETFs.

By itself, the flow data shows a change in investor activity, not the reason behind it. The numbers also do not establish whether the outflows were driven by short-term trading, profit-taking or broader repositioning across crypto-linked funds.

A one-day swing after a strong inflow session

The reported Bitcoin ETF outflows came immediately after a large inflow day, making the move stand out even more clearly. Ether ETFs, while smaller in size than the Bitcoin products, also posted net outflows, underscoring that the day was weak across both major US spot crypto ETF categories.

Even so, a single session does not by itself define a broader trend. The key takeaway from the Oct. 22 data is the scale and direction of the reversal: a strong inflow day in Bitcoin ETFs followed by a heavy outflow day, with ether ETFs also ending lower.
