Avalanche Stablecoin Supply Surges to $1.8B Amid Increased Network Activity

The total supply of stablecoins on the Avalanche network has experienced a sharp increase over the past week, rising nearly 50% to approximately $1.8 billion. This influx of liquidity follows a period of heightened on-chain engagement and comes as the network processes significantly higher transaction volumes compared to the previous year.
According to data from on-chain tracker DefiLlama, the stablecoin market capitalization on Avalanche reflects a substantial injection of capital into the ecosystem. While figures have fluctuated, with some observations even showing balances briefly exceeding the $2 billion mark in recent months, the current surge represents a concentrated weekly move that strengthens the liquidity available for decentralized finance (DeFi) and other blockchain services.
Network Activity and Token Economics
The growth in stablecoin supply coincides with robust network performance metrics. Avalanche has maintained a consistent level of activity, recently processing roughly 2.62 million daily transactions. This level of engagement remains well above figures recorded in early 2025, suggesting sustained user
interaction despite broader market volatility.
This increased usage has directly impacted the network’s supply dynamics through its native fee-burning mechanism. As transactions occur, a portion of the fees is removed from circulation. Recent data indicates that approximately 135.65 AVAX was burned during a recent period of high activity, illustrating the link between network demand and the protocol’s deflationary pressure.
Market Context and Infrastructure
The expansion of stablecoin rails on Avalanche serves as a critical indicator of ecosystem health, as these assets provide the necessary liquidity for trading, lending, and payments. The presence of $1.8 billion in stablecoins suggests that more capital is being positioned within the network to interact with decentralized applications (dApps).
However, the increase in infrastructure-level liquidity has not yet resulted in a correlated shift in the market price of the native AVAX token. Analysts have noted a divergence between strong network fundamentals—such as the rising stablecoin supply and high transaction counts—and a relatively sideways price action for the token itself.
Furthermore, the ecosystem faces immediate supply-side events, including a scheduled token unlock on July 21 valued at approximately $23.3 million. Market participants typically monitor such unlocks for potential short-term volatility, even as the underlying network activity shows signs of continued expansion.
