Kraken files for CFTC-regulated U.S. perpetual futures via Bitnomial

Kraken said it has filed to offer CFTC-regulated perpetual futures to eligible U.S. traders through Bitnomial, the exchange route tied to its derivatives push in the United States. In an official blog post, the company said the proposed contracts would be listed on Bitnomial Exchange.
The filing marks an important step for a product category that is already widely used in global crypto markets but has had far more limited regulated access in the U.S. Kraken’s announcement frames the move as a path for eligible American traders to access perpetual futures under a CFTC-regulated structure rather than through offshore venues.
Contracts tied to major crypto assets
According to coverage referencing Kraken’s announcement, the proposed perpetuals would cover BTC, ETH, SOL, XRP and ADA. The company also said the launch would still be subject to the applicable regulatory review process before trading could begin.
That means the filing itself is not the same as a live launch. For now, the development is best understood as a regulatory and market-structure step, not a completed rollout.
Perpetual futures differ from standard futures because they do not have a fixed expiry date. In crypto markets, they are commonly used for leverage, hedging, directional exposure and basis trading. Kraken’s move suggests it wants to bring that instrument into a U.S. framework that has traditionally offered fewer options than offshore venues.
Bitnomial’s role matters because the proposed products would be listed through that venue rather than directly on Kraken’s main exchange interface. The filing therefore points to a structured route into U.S. derivatives rather than an open-ended expansion of spot trading.
