Binance.us says it plans CFTC DCM filing in August for prediction markets

Binance.US said it plans to apply to the Commodity Futures Trading Commission in August for a Designated Contract Market license, a move the exchange says would let it offer prediction markets in the United States.
The comments were made by Binance.US chief executive Stephen Gregory during a discussion at the Rare Evo conference in Las Vegas, according to reporting from Crowdfund Insider. A company spokesperson later confirmed the remarks, the report said.
What the license would cover
A DCM registration is the type of approval that would allow a venue to list contracts under CFTC oversight. In this case, Binance.US is framing the application as a step toward launching prediction markets, with the broader category typically covering event-based contracts.
The exchange has not said it has filed the application yet, and no filing was listed on the CFTC’s public roster at the time of the remarks, according to the report. That means the plan remains a stated intention rather than a completed regulatory step.
The move would also broaden Binance.US beyond spot crypto trading, if the company eventually wins approval. The exchange operates separately from the global Binance platform and has been trying to rebuild its U.S. business in a more regulated direction.
For now, the key development is procedural: Binance.US says it intends to seek the license in August, but the application itself has not been publicly confirmed as submitted.
