Solana activates 300ms slot time reduction on mainnet via feature gates

Solana has activated a mainnet feature gate tied to SIMD-0525 that reduces the network’s slot time to 300 milliseconds, according to the Solana Explorer page for the feature-gate address. A specialist account tracking Solana feature flags also said the change was live on mainnet at epoch 1023.

The update is the next step in Solana’s staged slot-time reduction plan. Earlier coverage had pointed to a pending activation around epoch 1024, and the on-chain record now indicates that the 300ms step has been switched on.

A staged reduction rather than a single jump

The SIMD-0525 roadmap uses separate feature gates for each slot-time cut, rather than moving directly to the final target in one step. That means the network changes in increments, with each step activated independently on mainnet.

In practice, the 300ms reduction shortens Solana’s slot time, but it does not by itself prove any broader shift in usage or demand. It is a network-level parameter change, not a statement about adoption or market performance.
