Gronkowski being the first professional NFL player and athlete to launch his card collection on NFT platform and it was a hit. Launched on opensea platform it is reported by the Rosenfield Media Group that all but one of the 349 cards available were sold out. Via a press release he announced that he wants to share his favorite Super Bowl moments with fans.
NFT auction brings Rob Gronkowski worth $1.6 million
Gronkowski told CNBC in an interview Friday that,
“My good friend has been talking about crypto money for months now, there’s teammates talking about crypto money, I’ve had friends talk about crypto money,” he went on to say. “And I never really understood it. You know, during the season, that crypto stuff, I’m live, I’m not digital during the season… I didn’t know much about it.”

He showcased his 5 unique collections of cards featuring art from one of Gronkowski’s four Super Bowl appearances. 87 editions were available for each of the four cards, but the fifth card is limited to just a single edition. Also “The crown jewel” refractor card”was auctioned.
So far it has fetched him a whopping amount of $1.6 million that’s around 830 Ether and it’s so far so good!
NFTs are gaining immense popularity in the sports world, mainly after the National Basketball Association’s partnership with Dapper Labs gained traction after recording more than $230 million in sales.
Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is the athlete to join the NFT craze. Mahomes told CNBC that he will unveil a “Museum of Mahomes” on NFT platform MakersPlace on March 17.
