DefiLlama restores Aster’s perpetual dashboard with “unverified” label after two-week blackout

Analyst at a desk reviews crypto dashboards with alerts about Aster data, signaling caution.

DefiLlama has put Aster’s perpetual trading dashboard back online, but every chart now carries a red “We have not checked those numbers” banner. The two-week blackout ends with a clear caveat: analysts, traders and lenders who rely on the site must decide for themselves whether to trust the figures. The platform’s co-founder 0xngmi stresses that “hard to verify” still means exactly that, and republishing is not an endorsement.

Before removal, DefiLlama showed Aster with $24.7 billion in daily perpetual volume, $1.85 billion in TVL, and open interest jumping from $3.72 million to $1.25 billion. Staff noticed ETH/USDT and XRP/USDT volumes on Aster moved in near lockstep with Binance’s public tape, a pattern often created when the same party trades with itself to fake activity.

After the page went blank, Aster’s token fell more than 10%, then regained roughly 5% when the page returned, even though the disputed stretch of history is still missing. Without those days, no outsider can replay the tape and prove or disprove the wash trade charge—where the buyer and seller are the same, done only to pump the volume counter.

Why should we take this data into account?

Treat every Aster metric as a rough clue, not a fact. Cross-check trades on the blockchain and compare numbers from at least one other source. For data sites, the episode shows that adding more names can conflict with keeping every line provable. For projects, the lesson is that open, checkable evidence is part of the product.

Watch whether Aster releases a full, verifiable archive and whether independent auditors confirm the new totals. Until that happens, treat the dashboard as a sketch, not a photograph.

The practical takeaway is caution: unverified dashboards shift the burden of proof to users. Until the missing data and independent checks arrive, approach Aster’s figures as provisional guides rather than definitive facts.
