X to roll out ‘Starterpacks’ featuring Bitcoin and crypto’s top posters

X announced a new onboarding feature, “Starterpacks,” designed to surface curated lists of influential accounts across niches including Bitcoin and broader crypto communities.

The initiative aims to simplify discovery for new users and reverse a 32% decline in “Bitcoin” mentions on the platform during 2025.

Product lead Nikita Bier said the packs were compiled from months of curation across more than 1,000 interest categories and “the tool will go live in a few weeks,” positioning the release as a near-term push to restore crypto engagement.

Starterpacks bundles are internally curated lists of top posters tailored to specific interests. For crypto, the packs extend beyond a generic Bitcoin feed to include sub-niches such as memecoin traders, on-chain analysis experts and developer-focused channels. X’s approach is top-down: product teams identified and assembled the lists rather than relying on user-generated curation.

Market reactions, competitive context and risks

The move has attracted a mix of encouragement and critique. Some community accounts, including an official Cronos Chain handle, welcomed easier discovery for novices and seasoned users alike. Others warned that curated lists can amplify algorithmic bias and narrow organic discovery, potentially creating echo chambers in fast-moving crypto discourse.

Analysts have pointed out an additional credibility vector: the inclusion of figures with contested regulatory histories has prompted debate about list composition and trust. Meanwhile, prominent voices such as Vitalik Buterin have reiterated a preference for decentralized social models, implicitly contrasting those platforms with centrally curated offerings.

Starterpacks also follows features rolled out by competitors. Decentralized platforms and other social networks have experimented with interest-based lists; X’s differentiator is its scale and product-led selection process, which aims to accelerate signal discovery but raises governance and moderation questions.

Investors, compliance teams and product managers will monitor the rollout closely in the coming weeks to assess whether Starterpacks increase meaningful crypto engagement without degrading signal quality.

The feature’s impact on liquidity of crypto conversations, inflows of new users, and the platform’s moderation load will determine whether X’s curation strategy restores prior levels of crypto participation or simply reshapes how that participation is discovered.
