Visa and Mastercard blocked the cards of the Russian bank, which participated in the launch of Petro

Leading international payment providers Visa and Mastercard have stopped working with the Russian Eurofinance Mosnarbank because of US sanctions. The sanctions were imposed due to the connection of Mosnarbank with the Venezuelan oil company Petroleos de Venezuela SA (PdVSA), which the United States accuses of supporting the illegal regime of President Maduro.

Earlier, we wrote that large investors who wanted to purchase the national cryptocurrency of Venezuela's EL Petro during a tokensale, after registering and installing the software of the Petro wallet, available in Spanish, English and Russian, were redirected to buy cryptocurrency to an account with Eurofinance Mosnarbank whose shareholders are companies of the VTB Group and Gazprombank.

Now all Eurofinance Mosnarbank cards from Visa and Mastercard are unsuitable for use. The bank notified its customers that in the near future it will begin replacing Visa cards with cards issued with the help of the Russian payment system Mir.
