CGEX South Korean Crypto Exchange Launched in Malta Closes

The Malta-based Coinone Global Exchange (CGEX) cryptocurrency exchange, which was launched by the well-known South Korean exchange Coinone, will cease operations in mid-September.

According to information, the exchange will stop providing services at 2:00 (UTC) on September 18. CGEX was launched in October 2018.

CGEX posted a notice of termination of services on the home page of its website, adding that it could no longer maintain the platform’s functionality.

The exchange has warned its customers that all assets in user accounts should be withdrawn before the closing date, since further withdrawals after this time will not be available. User personal data (including transaction details) with the end of the platform will be destroyed.

The news of the closure of CGEX followed past exchanges notifications of a temporary suspension of trading services. On June 17, CGEX announced that starting July 17, it temporarily stops providing trading services and suspends the acceptance of deposits. This step was explained by “preparations for a new global change in the operation of cryptocurrency exchanges” and plans to launch a new trading platform. Then the exchange said that a new version of the CGEX platform will be presented in the third quarter of 2019.
