Aviva Investors and Ripple drive tokenization of traditional funds via XRP Ledger

Senior investor in a modern office shakes hands with a Ripple XRPL holographic ledger showing tokenized funds.

The British asset manager, Aviva Investors, has announced a strategic partnership with Ripple to begin its foray into the tokenization of traditional funds using the XRP Ledger. According to the official press release, this collaboration seeks to move conventional investment structures onchain, marking a significant milestone for the insurer within the digital ecosystem.

This move represents Ripple’s first agreement with a Europe-based investment manager, expanding its presence in the regulated market significantly. By digitizing these holdings, the firms involved are betting on a more agile and transparent financial infrastructure, allowing institutional assets to be managed with operational efficiency that is far superior to traditional, manual methods.

Operational efficiency and new standards in asset management

It is relevant to mention that, through the implementation of this technology, Aviva Investors plans to reduce settlement times and administrative costs. The tokenization of traditional funds on the XRPL enables fractional ownership and automated compliance, which opens the door to much broader asset distribution among various qualified investor profiles globally.

On the other hand, the XRP Ledger, operational since 2012, has processed over 4 billion transactions, establishing itself as a robust network for financial payments. Jill Barber, Chief Distribution Officer at Aviva, highlighted that adopting technological advancements is crucial to generating positive change in their business, emphasizing that tokenized structures offer substantial benefits in terms of cost savings and transparency for their clients.

What impact will the use of XRPL have on institutional adoption of digital assets?

Furthermore, integrating funds into a blockchain specifically designed for financial transactions reinforces regulator confidence in these emerging digital instruments. By not relying on energy-intensive mining, the XRPL aligns perfectly with the sustainability goals of large corporations, facilitating the transition of capital markets toward greener and more energy-efficient models.

However, this trend is not isolated, as giants like BlackRock and Franklin Templeton have already launched similar products on other protocols lately. Aviva Investors’ entry confirms that the financial sector is moving past pilot projects to implement live solutions, where the tokenization of traditional funds is positioning itself as the gold standard for the next decade of investment.

Finally, the development of these structures is expected to continue throughout 2026, laying the groundwork for an interconnected global financial system. The partnership between Ripple’s expertise and Aviva’s capital could accelerate the convergence between traditional finance (TradFi) and decentralized finance, permanently transforming how the world invests in regulated fund structures and institutional products.
