ASTER jumps 20% after CZ buys over 2 million tokens, raising demand and data transparency concerns

ASTER surged after a personal announcement by Changpeng Zhao (CZ), the recently pardoned founder of Binance, confirming a purchase of more than 2 million tokens. The move on November 2, 2025 reignited demand and attention, but it also highlighted doubts about the integrity of data that affect retail investors and analytics platforms.

On November 2, 2025 CZ publicly confirmed a personal acquisition of over 2 million ASTER, a transaction valued at approximately $2 million to $2.5 million with an average price near $0.91 per token, according to market reports. Following the disclosure, ASTER’s price rose between 20% and 40%, reaching peaks around $1.26, based on CoinMarketCap data collected during that period.

Data reliability quickly came under scrutiny as on-chain monitoring platforms removed key metrics: DefiLlama suspended the publication of ASTER’s perpetual volume due to doubts about the transparency and veracity of reported activity. The developer known as 0xngmi pointed to a lack of verifiable activity, fueling distrust in indicators many traders use to assess liquidity and risk.

Rumors intensified volatility: prior to CZ’s announcement a fake screenshot circulated attributing to CZ the sale of 35 million ASTER; although discredited, the rumor caused panic and contributed to a 16.8% drop on October 30, 2025, down to $0.85.

Context and impact of ASTER

Large holders amplified the correction, with subsequent reports indicating that “whales” took advantage of the swings to withdraw approximately $7 million, increasing selling pressure and deepening the pullback.

The suspension of metrics by DefiLlama reduces traceability of volume and complicates liquidity valuation, according to the platform. Unverified information can move prices and force liquidations, as shown by the fake screenshot episode.

In the short term, ASTER’s credibility will depend on the resumption of reliable metrics and transparent on-chain activity. The next milestone is whether data services reinstate ASTER’s volume or maintain the suspension, which will shape the token’s ability to regain institutional and retail trust.
