Strategy, the company led by Michael Saylor, recently acquired 20,356 Bitcoin for a value close to $2 billion. This purchase increases its total Bitcoin holdings to nearly 500,000 BTC, making it the largest corporate holder of Bitcoin. The average acquisition price was $97,514 per unit.

The acquisition followed a $2 billion senior convertible note offering. These notes, which have a 0% coupon and mature on March 1, 2030, generated approximately $1.99 billion in net proceeds for the company. The raised funds will be used for general corporate purposes, primarily to continue purchasing more Bitcoin and for working capital.

The acquisition strategy is part of a long-term plan called the “21/21 Plan,” which aims to raise a total of $42 billion over the next three years. This capital will be split between equity and fixed-income securities, mainly to continue expanding the company’s Bitcoin reserves. Strategy has already raised $20 billion of that target, allowing it to increase its BTC exposure through financial instruments such as convertible notes and debt.
