The Chicago Futures Exchange Options Exchange (CFE) platform will not add new futures contracts for Bitcoin in March under the pretext of revising its approach to working with this tool. Corresponding amendments have been made to the monthly notice of upcoming CFE listing products.
"CFE does not add Cboe Bitcoin (USD) (“ XBT ”) futures contracts for trading in March 2019,” the exchange wrote. – CFE analyzes its own approach in the context of how it will provide the opportunity to trade derivatives of digital assets. While deciding on the next steps, CFE does not intend to list additional XBT futures contracts for trading, ”the official statement says.
Contracts that were previously added to Cboe and are currently active will be available until expiration. The last contract XBTM19 closes in June.
Cboe, unlike CME, with which it launched Bitcoin futures at about the same time, cannot boast of a significant interest of traders in its cryptocurrency product. At the same time, CME in February reported on the update of the daily record for the volume of trades in BTC futures.
