Tokenized Real-World Assets Could Reach $100 Billion

TL;DR

  • Nathan Allman, CEO of Ondo Finance, projects that the tokenized real-world asset (RWA) market could reach $100 billion in 2025.
  • Ondo Finance already manages around $1 billion in TVL, competing with giants like BlackRock and Franklin Templeton.
  • The adoption of stablecoins and the maturity of the DeFi ecosystem signal a major shift toward a new decentralized financial era.

The tokenization of real-world assets is taking a big leap in 2025. Nathan Allman, CEO of Ondo Finance, stated that we could see up to 100 billion dollars in tokenized assets this year, a figure that would change the rules of the game for traditional finance. This projection isn’t just optimistic speculation: Ondo already manages approximately 1 billion dollars in assets, placing it on par with heavyweights like Franklin Templeton and BlackRock, who are also entering this emerging financial space.

For Allman, this is just the beginning. The key, he says, is in connecting the DeFi universe with tangible instruments like corporate bonds and U.S. Treasuries, making institutional-grade investments available on the blockchain in a more efficient and accessible way. He also highlights that the regulatory environment is beginning to adapt, further facilitating the expansion of these tokenized financial products and their global acceptance by conservative investors. Major banks like JPMorgan and Citi have already conducted pilot programs involving tokenization, further validating its transformative potential in today’s financial system.

Stablecoins as a Sign of What’s Coming

Allman points to the rise of stablecoins, which currently have a market capitalization of around 200 billion dollars, as a clear sign that traditional finance is paying attention.

“That alone is more than enough for Wall Street to stop looking the other way,” he said.

Moreover, with platforms like Ondo enabling the purchase and management of real-world assets on-chain, DeFi’s utility is expanding far beyond crypto speculation. The goal is to make complex financial instruments accessible to everyday citizens, eliminating costly intermediaries and bureaucratic barriers.

Toward a Merger of DeFi and Traditional Finance

Historically, much of DeFi has revolved around speculative projects and infrastructure tokens. However, Allman insists that this is changing. Today, the DeFi infrastructure has matured enough to connect directly and securely with the real-world financial landscape.

What was once just a technological promise is now emerging as a powerful tool to modernize the global financial system and bring it closer to millions of people who lack traditional investment access. If Allman’s projections come true, it won’t just be a crypto revolution: it will be the new normal.
