Sberbank of Russia, controlled by the Central Bank of the Russian Federation, suspended its plans to work with cryptocurrency. This was stated to journalists by the Vice-President of Sberbank Andrey Shemetov.
According to him, this was due to the negative attitude of the Central Bank to this product.
“Regarding the cryptocurrency, we were waiting for legislation that allows you to trade cryptocurrency. Since the regulator is currently looking negatively, we decided to suspend this cryptocurrency plan, ”he explained.
At the end of 2017, the head of Sberbank CIB, Igor Bulantsev, said that a subsidiary bank of Sberbank in Switzerland is working on the possibility of opening cryptocurrency accounts.
