Mongraal Wins Bored Ape Yacht Club's Dookey Dash Challenge

Just recently, Yuga Labs, the company behind the Bored Ape Yacht Club NFT Collection, has announced Mongraal as the winner of its Dookey Dash challenge.

When announcing the winner, Yuga Labs stated,

“Many have dashed, more have dookey’d, but one person arrived. Congratulations to @Mongraal, the Key is yours!”

More than 25,000 players participated in the challenge which was open specifically for Bored Ape Yacht Club and Mutant Ape Yacht Club NFT holders. These members had the option of minting exclusive Sewer Pass NFTs, which were primarily used as a power source in the race.

The secondary sales of the Sewer Pass NFTs crossed 36K ETH since its launch on January 18 this year. At the time of the game’s launch, it was promised that the gamer with the highest score would be offered a mysterious reward. The Dookey Dash competition was a massive success in the NFT community. Similarly, the competition highlighted the growing importance of NFTs in the gaming world. The results of the challenge managed to surprise the community as Mongraal beat the highest scores several times.

Mongraal Lists the Golden Key NFT Prize

The gaming challenge had to face a smear campaign as a result of cheating and boosters. Many argued that for hire players were paid to play the game for the NFT holder. The main purpose of doing so was to pump up the scores on the leaderboard. These boosters charged between 0.25 ETH to 2.5 ETH depending on scores ranging from 250,000 to 700,000 or higher. Many others believed that some players used exploits that went undetected by the anti-exploit measures of Yuga labs.

As a result, BAYC said,

“We want Dookey Dash to be as fair as possible. As we’ve mentioned previously, we will not allow cheating. We’ve already noticed some #DookeyDash Sewer Passes associated with cheating. Those scores have now been removed from the leaderboard.”

Nonetheless, Mongraal received a Sewer Pass Golden Key after he won the Dookey Dash challenge. However, the Fortnite gamer has listed it for approximately 2,222 ETH, equivalent to $3.7 million. Collectors now have the possibility of bidding whatever they want on the NFT. However, they might start bidding at a price much lower than the listing price. Considering how Mongraal listed the NFT at such a high price, it is evident that he harbors a greater confidence towards the value of the new NFT.

However, all Sewer Pass owners would have the option of re-entering the sewer on February 22. They would have the possibility of receiving a companion trait for their power sources during a bonus game, Toad Mode. Furthermore, a mere 2% of the scores were reset when it was believed players were not playing fairly. Players can still play Toad Mode despite their scores being set at 0
